The Big Idea

IsoGrid — The Big Idea

Recorded 2026-09-28, at the founding of the project.

In my own words

In the past, I viewed a portfolio website as a way to showcase my achievements and justify my experience to convince employers I was ready for the job. Now, I realize it can be much more: a living reflection of my professional development and an active catalyst for my continued growth.

The shift

Before Now
A portfolio is a verdict A portfolio is a process
Built once, to justify past work Continuously updated, to drive future work
Audience: a hiring manager Audience: the world
Proves I am worthy Shows how I am growing

The name

IsoGrid holds two meanings:

  1. ISOs and the Grid (Tron). ISOs are the programs that weren’t written by anyone. They emerged on their own inside the Grid and kept evolving. This site should work the same way: it is never finished, and it grows because I keep working on it.
  2. An isogrid (engineering). An isogrid is a lattice of triangular ribs used in aerospace structures. It is very strong for how little it weighs. The site should be built the same way: a light, efficient framework that is structurally sound and can carry more over time without getting heavy.

Principles

  1. Evolve in public. Updates are the point, not upkeep. The site should make adding something new easy and make it clear how things have changed over time.
  2. Growth over proof. Show the work in progress, what I’m learning, and where I’ve changed direction, not just finished wins.
  3. Lightweight and strong. Keep costs close to zero, keep dependencies few, and load fast. Ambitious visuals like 3D should be layered on without making the core heavy.
  4. Reachable. Anyone who is moved by the work should be able to get in touch directly.
  5. Built to last. The structure should still hold up years from now, after many updates.
